Baby Steps

It is hard to believe we have come so far in such a short time.  My little folder of documents on our ancestors has grown into two huge notebooks. In the beginning it is hard to absorb all the information…….there is so much.  I had to stop……step back….take a deep breath….. and tell my self to slow down…….now is the time for “baby steps”.
Due to the mass amount of information it is so tempting to accept information without proper documentation.  We are taking this one step at a time and making sure we source each piece of information.
The community of genealogist are all willing to share their wealth of knowledge……it is amazing how they help each other……all you have to do is ask!
Here are a couple of great resources that have helped me:
  • Seeking Our Twigs – Yahoo Group – Great group of members.  I learned about some resources at my local library such as…..HeritageQuest Online!
  • Find A Grave – Wonderful – I have found several of my ancestors.  You can request photos and volunteers are ready to full fill your request!
  • Shelby County Register of Deeds – I found death certificates and marriage records on several of our Tennessee Ancestors.
Each day is a new learning experience!

  1. I love find a grave. Had a volunteer find the graves of several members of my husband in South Dakota. I have become a member of graveyard rabbits and now take pictures of graves in my area. Found your blog tonight ,look forward to future posts.

  2. I love find a grave also. I did not know where some of our ancestors were buried until I stumbled across their site one day. I am a volunteer and take photos in my area.......What is graveyard rabbits?
